A worn chain will not fix itself, and it takes the sprockets with it. We
replace chains and sprockets as a set, set the slack properly and check the alignment
before you ride away — on North Nebraska Avenue, while the machine is on our lift.

How to tell yours is done

• You keep re-tightening it. A chain that needs adjusting every couple of rides is stretched past its useful life.
• Tight in one spot, loose in another. That is uneven wear, and no amount of adjustment fixes it.
• Hooked or pointed sprocket teeth. Healthy teeth are symmetrical. Once they curl, a new chain will wear out fast on them.
• It jumps or clunks under power. Stop riding it. A chain that skips can lock a rear wheel or take a case cover off.

Why the set, not just the chain

A chain and its sprockets wear into each other. Put a fresh chain on hooked sprockets and the new
chain is ruined in a fraction of its life — you pay twice. We fit them as a set for that reason,
and if your sprockets genuinely have life left we will tell you so rather than sell you parts you
do not need.

What we do

1. Call with your year, make and model. We will check what your machine takes and what it will cost.
2. Bring it in — Tuesday through Friday, 9 to 6, and Saturday, 9:30 to 4.
3. We fit the set, set the slack to your machine’s spec and check alignment, then look over the rear wheel bearings and cush drive while it is apart, at no extra charge.
